Mac Stripe

Mackerel Stripes
CFMack03Basic Crease Fly with one layer of Pearl and multiple markers applied to add more definition to the fly.

Detailed tying instructions to be posted shortly, but here is a quick description:

Follow the Single Foil directions up to the coloring part. Apply light yellow to the upper middle of the fly. Blend the yellow with a piece of scrap foam upwards. Apply a dark green marker to the top crease of the fly.  Lightly blend the dark green marker down the side. To apply the stripes, use black flexible pen. To make the stripes, QUICKLY draw the lines from the crease down the side with a few squiggles in it. If you try to make them perfect, they will not look good. You want the lines to look like you have just drank two pots of high-test coffee. When both sides are done, make a series of X’s across the top crease of the fly to connect some of the side stripes. The lateral line is a series of dots made with a fine tip pen. The gill is a series of red dots made with a fine tip pen. Fill the front edge and inside with a red pen. Follow the direction on coating the fly with epoxy and you are done.
