Gooey Wide Minnow
A quick Gooey Fly that can imitate almost any bait fish that has a wide profile. Vary the hook size and style for your application. Lighter thin-wire hooks make the fly almost neutral buoyant while thicker forged hooks make the fly sink. Try putting a bead or cone head on the fly to make it dive nose first. This is a quick and simple fly that can be tied in a variety of colors and shapes. Be creative and have fun.

Attach fine mono thread at hook eye and secure. Mount a small tuft of White Craft Fur at the front of hook.

A Pull 5 - 10 strands of Pearl Angle Hair from the pack, fold it in half around the mono thread and secured at hook eye.

Mount a small tuft of Green Craft Fur facing forward at the hook eye.

Fold the Green Craft Fur back and secure keeping the wraps close to the hook eye. Whip Finish and cut the thread .

Cut a rectangle of Gooey Thin Body that is slightly larger than 2x’s the height of the finished body. Do not remover the paper carriers. Fold the body in half lengthwise and test fit the body.

Peal the inside paper off the Gooey Body trying not to touch sticky inside. Gather the tail and pull it up and back to the desired angel keeping tension on it. The tail material should support the Gooey Body. The body shape is determined by how the Gooey Body is alined to the hook. Put the front crease touching the back of the hook eye. Angle the Gooey Body at 30 to 45 degree angle to get the shape of the Gooey Wide Minnow. Lightly place the front inside seam behind the hook eye.

Make final body adjustments and squeeze the Gooey Body closed starting at the top forward seam working down and back the sides.

Remove the hook from the vice and trim the body to size. The First cut should be from the hook eye almost parallel to the hook shank to the hook bend.

The Second cut is from the tail towards the hook shank. The Front and Back cuts should meet at the hook bend.

Pull the rest of the tape off. Only remove what you have cut and trim away any excess that may be around the shook shank.

Peal the outer paper away. Try not to touch the body with your fingers, as it will cloud the body material.

Put an eye on each side.

Prepare The Foil and Apply It Cut two strips each of the BuzFly Foil:
- Silver Holo - 2/3’s body length
- Peal - Larger then the Body.
- Green Back - 1/4” tall slightly longer than body
- RPG Fade - Thin red gill strips
Always apply the foil dull side down to each side of the fly.
Apply the Green Back on each side about 1/4 of the way down the top of the fly.

Apply the RPG Fade strip behind the eye extending downwards at a slight angel to make the gill. The strips should start behind the eyes extending down and forward for make the gill. Leave the strips long to help remove them later.

Place a rectangle of BuzFly Silver Holo on each side to create the silver belly sack. Leave the rectangles long to help remove them later.

Apply the Pearl over the rest of the body to cover any exposed Gooey Body.

Squeeze the body of the fly to make sure that the foil is stuck to the body. Start unwrapping the fly by pealing the foil off the fly. When you remove the foil, the foil will only stick to the sticky surfaces. This is what makes the layering system work on these flies and crease flies.

The finished fly is now ready to be fished. You can trim the tail to the desired length. You can also color the fly with markers. You can trim the body to fine tune the shape, but remember to apply the Pearl Foil to the trimmed area to cover any sticky surfaces. Since the all the sticky surfaces are covered with foil, they should not stick to other flies.
